This seminar is meant for those who wish to experiment with their instrument using various instruments, effects, pedals and loops. So, we will investigate the use of such ‘instruments’, and specifically their peculiarities when used with acoustic and traditional instruments. All of this with samples of reworked and orchestrated bits in search of the special atmosphere that is the result of such process. Participants are required to bring equipment of their own.
Fotis Siotas was born in Thessaloniki. He was introduced to music at the age of six, when he joined the Children’s Choir of the Holy Triad Church. At the age of nine, he started to attend singing and violin classes at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki. He was active in many city bands such as Podilates, Boomstate and Evoi Evan. In 1993, he started to collaborate with Sokratis Malamas and Thanasis Papakonstantinou both on stage and on their albums. He also worked together with Giannis Aggelakas & Oi Episkeptes and with guitarist Babis Papadopoulos. On top of that, he can be heard on the musical fairytales of Dimitris Baslam (violin, vocals). In 2005, Fotis and guitarist Kostas Pantelis formed the duet Sancho 003, who released two albums (We Buy Gold and MUZGA). In 2016 he formed the band SOTIRES along with Lefteris Moumtzis, Kostas Pantelis and Vasilis Baharidis, and released a self-titled debut album, out on Louvana Records. He wrote music for the Sinequanon dance group, for ‘Katastroypoli’ (Athens Festival), for ‘Xipna, Vasili!’ (National Theatre) and many other productions.
